Prior to attending law school, Dan obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering, and spent four years working as an engineer at Volterra Semiconductor, which is now part of Maxim. Dan designed hardware, wrote and debugged source code, participated in design reviews, and brought new chips from the lab into full production.

Dan is the inventor of U.S. Patent No. 6,794,568, a device for detecting musical gestures using collimated light.  He is also a registered patent attorney.
