A Mission Controller Reviews “The Martian”

Don’t worry, I do not intend to start a trend for posting movie reviews here; however, an article such as this regarding the technical correctness of a space movie may be found interesting to many of us.

I saw “The Martian” last night and definitely recommend it. Easily, my best movie this year, and worth the extra few dollars for 3D. (Isn’t any space movie better in 3D?) I enjoyed many aspects of “Interstellar” earlier this year with Matthew McConaughey but, was disappointed in several technical mistakes, especially after reading an article in which that director (Christopher Nolan) insisted he was adamant about getting things right. “The Martian” is really very good at this aspect, as described in this article by James Oberg, former NASA mission controller at Johnson Space Center.
